AGM and Charities Day

Greetings friends.
Apologies for the lack of website updates over recent times.
We are pleased to report that we held our AGM on the 25th June. We elected a new, slightly bigger, committee, received the annual financial report and started to make plans for the next twelve months.

The meeting was also fortunate enough to hear a very instructive, if saddening, talk from a recently returned Ecumenical Accompanier (World Council of Churches) on what is happening in the West Bank.

The meeting praised and thanked Rev. Bob Philip who stepped down as Chair of AFL after 20 years in post, but has agreed to remain on the committee. We also recognised and paid tribute to our dear friend and fellow campaigner, Tom Wallace, who sadly passed during the last year. Both Bob and Tom were founder members of our group, and steadfastly fought for a peaceful solution to the Palestine/Israel conflict and championed the cause of freedom for the Palestinian people and against the illegal actions of the state of Israel.

We also had a very successful stall at the annual Charities Day in Falkirk Town Centre on the 27th July. We were able to raise much-needed funds for Jayyous through Palestinian goods sales and bric-a-brac, as well as raising awareness of the current situation.

ANTONINE FRIENDSHIP LINK

The “Link” has been in existence now for twenty years. We have developed this website, Facebook page and Twitter account in order to improve the way we let interested folk know about our work and our commitment to the Palestinian people. These also enable us to communicate better with like minded organisations and individuals and to remind everyone that, despite everything, Palestine does not stand alone and shall not be forgotten.
